Saturday, October 17 2020, 12pm Virtual: https://www.facebook.com/events/882210058972653/ We are excited to invite you to the LatinxFest Virtual Festival on October 17, 2020, on Facebook Live. Last year, Dignidad Inmigrante en Athens (DIA) had the largest attendance in LatinxFest history with over 2000 Athenians joining us to celebrate Latinx culture through music, dance, the arts, and food. In 2020, we will be going global, showcasing performances directly from talented singers and songwriters in Mexico, as well as local performers who draw crowds to our festival year after year! Join us October 17th from noon to 6 pm on Facebook Live: https://www.facebook.com/events/882210058972653/ Enjoy the dances of Danza Azteca and Danza Folclórica del Peru and the performances of composers Siverio Jimenaz and Francisco Palacios de Mexico as well as the rock tunes from A Long Time Agogo, hip hop from Elias Velasque and mariachi from Estrellita de Jalisco. LatinxFest will also feature panels from organizers in the Migrant National Movement and a panel on Latinx identity. Finishing off the night, attendees will be treated to the release of local artist, Beto Cacao’s, new album “Voces en Pandemia.” “LatinxFest is the biggest celebration of our Hispanic and Latinx community, not only in Athens, but in all of Northeast Georgia. This 11th annual festival feels special in every sense, both in the challenges the pandemic represents for artists and public performances, but also because of the unique times we are living through. Art and cultural expression has never been more important to the life of our community.” – Beto Mendoza, Founder and Performer of LatinxFest
