Friday, February 4 2022, 7:30pm Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall Reservations Begin Aug 2 Founded in 1952 by dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández, Ballet Folklórico brings together the vibrant music, dance, and costumes of Mexican folklore from pre-Colombian civilizations through the modern era. From its permanent home at the Palacio de Bellas Artes—one of Mexico City’s most historic venues—the company has developed choreography for 40 ballets, composed of 76 folk dancers who have performed extensively across Mexico and abroad. The ensemble returns to Athens after many years with a pulsating program featuring renewed performances of the company’s beloved dance and music. Performances for Young People This performance is on February 4, 2022 at 10:00am. Performances for Young People are weekday events for children and youth in grades K-12 (6 years and older). Evening Performance The Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández will have an evening performance on February 4, 2022, 7:30pm, also at the Performing Arts Center.
