Image: The Servicio Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado reported that the two lizards belong to the genus Proctoporus, which are found in the Andes of Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru. El Comercio of Lima noted that the two lizard species are Proctoporus katerynae, named in honor of the renowned biologist Kateryn Pino Bolaños, and Proctoporus optimus, named as a tribute to Optimus Prime from the movie Transformers because it was filmed in the area. The species Proctoporus katerynae was discovered in the buffer zone of the Machiguenga Communal Reserve and the species Proctoporus optimus was discovered in the Machu Picchu area.
