Every year, the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Georgia honors outstanding faculty who have shown "a sustained commitment to high-quality instruction" through the Sandy Beaver Excellence Award. First granted in 1985, this is one of the most prestigious and longstanding recognitions for teaching in the College.
