Frida Kahlo art fetches record $34.9m at auction

A painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo has sold at Sotheby's auction house in New York for a record $34.9m (£25m).

It is the highest price paid at auction for a Latin American artwork.

Mexican Villagers try to preserve authentic Day of the Dead

AROCUTIN, Mexico (AP) — The famed Day of the Dead ceremonies around Mexico’s Lake Patzcuaro were once again thronged with visitors on Monday, economic relief for a tourist-dependent region that suffered from last year’s pandemic shutdown of the observance.
